Our Favourite Picks From Indian Couture Week ’17 – Wedamor
Indian couture week concluded on 30th June and the week-long gala offered a variety of glam-packed outfits and a bucket full of inspiration for this wedding season. From Anamika Khanna’s ‘Happily ever after’ to Manish Malhotra’s ‘Sensual affair’, the couture week had us swooning all along.
Every designer had something out-of-the-world fabulous to offer and keep in mind that we loved all the artsy collections, what follows is our top 15 picks (in no particular order) from the Indian Couture week that we think the brides and their bridesmaids can inspire their wedding shopping from:
1) This gorgeous embroidered lehenga with the signature gota work by Anita Dongre looks like an absolute beauty. The orange shade gives this an overall blush and feminine look which is sure to look beautiful on every skin-tone bride.
2) This tea-length dress, also by Dongre is the perfect combination of adorable, sexy and classy. As this dress speaks volumes for itself, the makeup and hair have been done to a very subtle level with almost nude makeup with a little gold eyeshadow and the look is completed with the small pearl earrings. The colour of the dress, cut and overall bead work makes it an excellent choice for the cocktail function.
3) Want to skip from the traditional red and orange? Anju Modi has got you. Dia Mirza looked nothing less than a diva on the ramp for Anju Modi. This traditional lehenga (from the collection ‘Sunehri Kothi’) in a not-so-traditional shade is the definition of gorgeous and is sure to make eyes turn.
4) Another Anju Modi creation; this treat to the eye flow-ey Anarkali suit with a subtle dupatta with gota–patti work is perfect for the bridesmaids for any wedding function. It is the right mix of heavy and subtle and looks flawless with Kohl filled eyes and jhumkas (earrings).

5) You can never go wrong with sequin and here we see Shyamal and Bhumika rocking the season with all blings! Athiya Shetty looked ravishing in the embroidered skirt and long sequinned cape. The makeup has to be a little subtle keeping in mind the bling of the outfit; so wearing red lips is a big no. This look will be perfectly suited for the cocktail-function.
6) Reynu Taandon had a lot of pretty ones in her collection to offer with blue being the colour of the show. This ‘easy on the eyes’ outfit looks like a delight with a mild yet exquisite touch of glamour to it.
7) Varun Bahl had his collection playing with floral and plant motifs inspired by Chezh Art Nouveau painter and artist Alphonse Mucha. This outfit has its unique elegance and slight royal grace to it and we couldn’t be more in love.
8) In the showcase of his collection, Tarun Tahiliani literally gave us major wedding goals. The collection is the recreation of Kashmir with the ubiquitous chinar. And the best pick for us in his stunning collection would be this heart throbbing lehenga. From the colours to the exquisite work, this particular outfit is so aesthetically pleasing to look at. Don’t you think?
9) Anamika Khanna is a serious talent and her outfits are a splendid mix of ‘out-of-the-box’ and ‘ideal’. How stunning is this outfit with that dreamy cape?
10) Monisha Jaising’s Indian couture week collection, ‘Opera’, had Shilpa Shetty oozing the audience with glamour as she walked the ramp as the showstopper. Out-of-the-box is trending, and Shetty rocked it!
11) Another Shyamal and Bhumika creation; this legit stunning saree looks breathtaking and have us falling more in love with the designer duo. That blouse alone is worth being kept in a museum, guys. To top it off, the classic colour combo of black and white never goes wrong.
12) Last but not the least, here’s Manish Malhotra for you. Your dreams of looking like an absolute diva can finally be fulfilled with the top drawer collection of MM especially in the department of gowns. This white and blue gown is as classy and as princessy as it gets.
