Simple & Easy DIY Hair Care Routine For The Quarantined Bride – Wedamor
One of the biggest blessings of the lockdown period has been that you have a lot of time to indulge in self-care. Remember the hair masks and face scrubs that you have always wanted to try out? This is the apt time for that. Here, we have for you some simple hair care ideas which you can try with ingredients at home.
Honey, Egg & Apple Cider Vinegar Mask
This is a great hydrating treatment which provides shine without weighing down the strands.
Usage: Combine 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of ACV. Combine and apply and leave it for 30 to 40 minutes. Wash it off and shampoo.
Cinnamon & Coconut Oil For Hair Growth
Cinnamon has anti-microbial properties and helps to stimulate blood circulation to the hair follicles and stimulate hair growth and improve strength.
Usage: Blend an equal portion of cinnamon powder and coconut oil to make a paste. Apply on to roots and scalp and let it sit for 30-45 minutes. Repeat the process once a week.
Brown Sugar & Olive Oil Hair Mask
Brown sugar acts as an exfoliant and helps remove the dead cells and other residues. Olive oil helps to lock the moisture and prevents drying. It also helps reduce hair breakage and split ends.
Usage: Mix 2 tablespoons of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Apply and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
Coconut Oil & Sugar To Treat Flakes
During the winter season, it is common to see flakes appearing on your scalp. This is a quick fix remedy for the same and helps exfoliate the scalp. An added perk is that the same scrub can be used to exfoliate the rest of your body.
Usage: Mix 2 tablespoons of unrefined coconut oil, 4 teaspoons of raw sugar (and required amounts of essential oils if you have). Apply to wet hair and massage your scalp for 1-3 minutes. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes and then wash it off.
Eggs For All Hair Types
The egg has been the go-to haircare remedy for a home hair care routine and there is a good reason behind that. The yolk is rich in fats and proteins and is good for moisturising. The albumen helps remove unwanted oils from the hair.
Usage: Use the entire egg for normal hair, the yolk for dry hair and just the white for oily hair. Blend and create an appropriate mixture and apply to scalp and hair. Rinse with cool water and shampoo.
Tea To Restore the Shine
Black tea is great for restoring shine to dull hair. Tea contains a high amount of tannin which helps in darkening hair. It is also said to help with hair loss.
Usage: Brew enough quantity of strong black tea. Let it cool and then wash your hair with it. Let it sit for 10-20 minutes and then wash it off thoroughly. You can also add herbs such as rosemary or tulsi and add a few drops of lemon juice. This will work as an anti-dandruff treatment.
Butter & Diary To Moisturise
Dairy products such as butter and sour cream are very useful in restoring shine to hair damaged by dust and pollution. The lactic acid helps to remove dirt whereas the fat present in the milk helps to moisturise. While they are suitable for any hair type, they are particularly good for enhancing natural curls.
Usage: Take a few spoonfuls of butter or 1/2 cup of yoghurt/sour cream and massage onto the scalp. Let it sit for an hour and then rinse thoroughly. Rinse with warm water and then cold water and then shampoo.
While choosing a particular hair care routine, make sure that your choice is based on your hair texture and type. Do not choose a particular hair care product just because it looks appealing.
