Even if you’re living under a rock, there’s no way you could have missed the constant updates of the rightly called ‘wedding of the year’. From the rumors to the wondering to finally witnessing the pictures as a proof of their secret wedding in Italy, Virat and Anushka are all over social media platforms with their absolutely adorable wedding pictures. But where did it all start?
Here’s a look at 4 long years of ups and downs of Virat and Anushka:
Bollywood meets cricket on the sets of a shampoo commercial

It was in 2013 that the duo came together for the first time for a TV commercial. This led to their status as just ‘good friends’ before the rumors of their dating started hitting up, which got stronger when in January of 2014, Team India arrived at the Mumbai airport and instead of going to the scheduled hotel with the rest of the team, our wonder boy went to Anushka’s apartment.
Then came February and although our lovebirds had not admitted to being in a relationship, the pair were seen strolling in the streets of New Zealand looking very much in love.
From here, the meetings went up and up in number
The same year the news was filled with Virat and Anushka’s hanging out on the sets of the movies. Virat made a surprise visit to Sri Lanka where Anushka had been shooting for Bombay Velvet. Later, Virat was also seen in Udaipur on the sets of the movie PK, to celebrate Anushka’s 26th Birthday. Their first public appearance happened in the same year October when they went to watch an Indian Super League match.

The cutest revelation
It wasn’t just a random interview where they finally accepted, oh no, Virat is way too cool for that. After achieving a milestone in a match against Sri Lanka in November 2014, Virat blew a kiss towards Anushka who was sitting among the spectators. Soon after this adorable incident, they both admitted to their relationship in an event. Virat claimed, “Whatever is there is out in the open, I have nothing to hide.” Anushka made a similar statement saying, “We are not hiding anything. We are being two normal young people in a relationship.”
Another adorable thing that happened was in December 2014, when Australian commentator, Michael Slater, mistakenly referred to Anushka as Virat’s wife during the third test match between India and Australia.

Their first red carpet appearance happened in July of 2015 in Mumbai. Virat and Anushka turned heads in their stunning outfits and wide-charming smiles. While talking to NDTV, Anushka even went ahead and said about Virat, “He’s my very, very good looking arm candy.” And yes, we all agree that our cricket wonder is surely a very good looking arm candy.
The controversies and pitfalls along the way
It was during the promotion of NH10 that Anushka lost her cool when she was constantly being asked about her relationship with Virat, instead of being taken seriously for a movie where she had acted and produced.
NH10 was a wonderful movie and Virat agreed when he tweeted “Just watched #NH10 and i am blown away. What a brilliant film and specially an outstanding performance by my love @AnshkaSharma. SO PROUD :)”.
It was soon rumored that Virat and Anushka had broken off after they unfollowed each other on social media. But when the events of trolling Anushka got viral on social media for when Virat failed to perform on the field, Virat got furious and rightly so, connecting Anushka to his performance on the field was genuinely wrong.

“Shame on those people who have been having a go at anushka for the longest time and connecting every negative thing to her. Shame on those people calling themselves educated. Shame on blaming and making fun of her when she has no control over what i do with my sport. If anything she has only motivated and given me more positivity. This was long time coming. Shame on these people that hide and take a dig. And i dont need any respect for this post. Have some compassion and respect her. Back at it again
We saw the love sparkle again when Virat and Anushka were spotted at several events (Manish Malhotra’s 50th birthday, Yuvi and Hazel’s wedding and more) walking hand in hand.

Then came the lovely pictures showing that the couple had celebrated New Years in Uttrakhand with each other and their families. Since the media and reporters can’t hold spreading rumors, there were reports claiming that Virat and Anushka were all set to get engaged. The rumors stopped when Virat had to step into the matter and tweeted:
“We aren’t getting engaged & if we were going to, we wouldn’t hide it. Simple… (1/2) 2/2)Since news channels cant resist selling false rumours & keeping you confused, we are just ending the confusion :).
”On Valentines Day, Virat posted a picture with his ladylove showcasing his love for her with the caption that read:
“Everyday is a valentine day if you want it to be. You make everyday seem like one for me. @anushkasharma”

And on women’s day, the perfect boyfriend went ahead to put a collage of his mother and Anushka which was super adorable! The caption read:
“Happy women’s day to every woman out there, but specially to the two strongest women in my life. My mom for looking after the family in toughest times in life and @anushkasharma for fighting against the odds regularly and standing up for righteousness and changing the norms #happywomenday”

Fun fact!
It looks like Anushka is a big fan of Virat’s beard. When Ravindra Jadeja started the trend of ‘Break The Beard’, where the challenge was to go clean-shaved. Virat posted this picture with the caption:
“Sorry boys @hardikpandya_official @royalnavghan @rohitsharma45 but iam not ready to break the beard yet. Great job on the makeovers though. Kudos”
To this, Anushka replied:
“You Cannot!”
More on expressing LOVE
In an interview with Star Sports, Virat showed us just how special Anushka is for him when he said:
“I was in Mohali and there was a test series going on. I was with Anushka then, she had come to visit me. Surprisingly, when I was made Test Captain, then also she was in Melbourne with me. That was a very special moment we shared together. During the Mohali incident, they had spoken to me already. When I hung up the phone and told her, for me it was like a flashback.From the moment I started playing in my academy till the Mohali game. I was emotional, I was in tears because I had never thought that I will see this day. What was more beautiful was that I was able to share it with Anushka. It was something that I will always remember.”
On a Diwali chat show, Aamir Khan asked Virat about the thing he loves most about Anushka. To which he said, “I’ll talk about the one thing that I love the most about her is that she’s super honest, she speaks her mind.” He further added, “Nushkie (His nickname for Anushka) is very honest.”
The Magical Wedding
Tuscan, Italy witnessed the most adorable wedding of the year when on December 11, 2017, our favorite couple tied the knots. Day weddings are immensely beautiful and we could see that in the pictures of this lovely couple.
