If you find yourself reading this article then you are probably one of those brides getting the ‘pre-wedding jitters’. Are you restlessly searching tips to get away from the wedding stress that is bothering you? Then you are at the right place. A Wedding is an event that only comes once in your life. It undoubtedly marks your most important transition and change in life.
Naturally every bride is bound to get the pre-wedding jitters, stress, and anxiety and it is perfectly normal. Your special milestone day has to be perfect and there are just so many things that go into a wedding. Not just that but the idea of attaching someone’s last name to yours and going on to commit to someone you will spend your whole life with is a huge deal. It is thought to provoke and very daunting sometimes as much as it is exciting. To conquer these bombarding mixed feelings pre-wedding jitters, here are some great tips that you can follow. It will certainly help you overcome those churning gurgles in your stomach and rest the goosebumps on your body.
1) EXERCISE
I cannot highlight the importance of this enough. I know that as a bride you will be asked to stay fit and will be encouraged to start a whole new gym routine so that you look flawless on your wedding day. However, all that, causes pressure to have a great body for your special day. In turn how you need to approach exercise is in a fun way that channels your energies in the right way. Try playing some sports as those are super fun as well as the best cardio ever. If you are not stressed out about being fit then working out will automatically become fun and will also deliver great results. This will take your mind off the other stress and keep you busy. Sweat all the toxins and negative vibes out and trust me this is the best thing you can do for yourself.
2) MEDITATE AND DO YOGA
Yoga connect us to our roots and fills us with nothing but positivity. I have to say that this is so refreshing and rejuvenating that it beats any other form of exercise. It works on not just our outer physical toning but also our inner chakras and peace of mind. Meditation is recommended as a complement to any form of exercise you are doing in order to eliminate the wedding worries. Whenever you feel overwhelmed with whatever that is going on then close your eyes, take deep breaths and exhale all that stress that is bothering you. It is effective and necessary to have a calm and healthy mind on your wedding day. Yoga is the number one way to stay fit and relaxed and before beginning your yoga warm up in the form of exercise is recommended. If lifting, exercise and hardcore sports ain’t your things, you can go for a more relaxed version of treadmills to warm up.
3) CHILL WITH YOUR BEST FRIEND
They say friends are the best therapists that also have fun with you and it cannot get more accurate than this. Your best friend will truly come to your rescue when you want to talk it out, hit the spa, pop some squats, jump in the pool, go out to have some drinks or even watch movies with you all day. This is the one person who will not say ‘NO’ to you even if she knows you are making a bad decision, instead she will stick with you through that decision to make sure she takes care of you. She will never disappoint you and will always tolerate you being paranoid about your wedding. If those pre-wedding jitters are troubling you then don’t be afraid to call your best friend even at 4 a.m. and asking her to come by and be your comfort pillow.

4) TALK TO THE MARRIED COUPLES
Just as in every other aspect of life, it is always good to seek advice from someone who is experienced and been there done that. In the case of pre-wedding jitters do not feel shy or uncomfortable to ask any of your married friend or newly-wed couples in the family about marriage effects. If your mind is bombarded with questions about how your life will take a turnover after marriage or how does it feel to be married and so on then go ahead and shoot to someone already in that field. It will always make you feel more confident and happy.
5) WEDDING MISTAKES? LAUGH IT OFF
While everyone wants their wedding to be perfect, it is really hard to get every element right and working. One of the biggest factor of the stress branches from the reason that you get upset about something that is not on point. But if everyone does work out perfectly then you would not have anything to make fun of. Laugh off the wedding mistakes and turn them into a funny memory. Do not let the stress of getting everything right get the better of you. Additionally, the more you smile the more beautiful will you look on your wedding day. The bridal smile is the most powerful and perfect element there needs to be on your wedding and it is the most amazing accessory that you can wear. So, LAUGH IT OFF, GIRL.

10 Best Grooming Tips For Indian Grooms
Utter the phrase ‘wedding preparation’ and it’ll throw the female fraternity into a state of frenzy. The bride along with 10 of her closest friends, cousins and siblings spend their next few months searching for the best grooming tips for brides with the single-minded determination of grooming perfectly for the big day.
Here Are the 10 Best Grooming Tips For the Indian Grooms
It may not matter as much to their male counterparts, who may start their preparations much later than their counterparts, but it does matter. No groom wants to look bad or unprepared on the big day and a certain amount of grooming is necessary.
Here are a few of the best grooming tips for Indian grooms:
1) Mind Your Face
You’ve probably never given a second thought to a pimple on your face before, or the tanning after a match of Cricket in the heat. But for once, you ought to. Sure, you’ve hired a professional photographer and he’s going to photoshop all the problems away, but you don’t want to be giving him reasons to be asking for fat tips, do you? It’s much easier to just go to the saloon and try out a recommended facial or peels. If they don’t work, ask your mother and she’s bound to come up with a magical home remedy that’ll do the trick! You can even consider going to a skin specialist to cure tanning and pigmentation.
2) Sweat It Away
Everyone, at some point in their lives, has made up their mind to go to the gym regularly. Some may even have powered through the first week. But most fail to find any motivation after a few days. It’s time now because there would rarely ever come a better motivation in your life to get up and hit the gym. Cardio exercises and a little weight training do the trick, along with a controlled diet. You don’t want to be holding your breath to look thin the entire time pictures are being clicked!
3) Facial Hair Issues
A clean shave is probably the best bet in such occasions, but most people have a favourite style of beard or moustache. Whatever it is, make sure it’s neatly trimmed and looked after. You don’t want to be looking like an engineering student writing his year-end examinations while getting married! Some have a favourite length of stubble that sets in 3 or 5 or 7 days after they shave, and some have a particular shape and love to trim it on the day of the occasion. Whatever it is, this is one of the best grooming tips you could possibly come across, so make sure you follow it.
4) Colgate Ad, is it?
Indian marriages are a huge deal and you’re going to be in the spotlight throughout the day every day. Official photographers and videographers will be doing their jobs without any rest, and at most times, you’ll feature in their work. Sure, you’re not going to want to smile after an hour or so but it’s great to keep the option open. And for that, you’ll need a set of white perfect teeth. Brushing twice a day and flossing the regular. Using a mouthwash regularly can come in handy as well. However, you might also want to get a dental checkup done, just to make sure everything is just about perfect.
5) Man-icure
Close your eyes, stop thinking and just enter that saloon! It takes 15 seconds of thoughtlessness to do so. Once you’ve entered, it should be fairly easy to ask for a manicure. During the wedding, you’re going to have to hold your to-be wife’s hands and you don’t want them to be rough and dirty. No matter how you keep them for the rest of your life, you want to ensure it looks the best on this day. It may seem over the top, but this is one of the best grooming tips and you’ll realise so on the big day!
6) Haircut
So, this one can be a little tricky. All you want to make sure is that it’s not a mess. You don’t want to be walking into the marriage looking like a ragged Ishant Sharma. We’re not saying you must cut your hair short, but that is the preferred option. However, if you’re one of those who keeps a man-bun, then you may as well keep it for the big day. Just make sure it’s neatly tied up and at its best behaviour.
7) Tame the Wild
When everything is so perfectly in order, even the smallest imperfections begin to stand out. An unkempt unibrow that you may never have noticed in your life may come up in the spotlight. A few nose hair may peek out to say hello and a little ear hair might knock on your door. As you may have rightly guessed, you’ll need to make sure these are tended to. Trim away the stray hairs and tweeze away the ones that look odd for a completely perfect look!
8) Good Food, Great Skin
There’s only so much help that a facial or a home remedy can provide to your skin. Cut the problem at a more basic cause. Eating oily food clogs up your system and spoils your skin. Resist the temptation to have oily food and stick to fresh veggies. Olive oil, Fish especially Salmon, carrots and green tea go a long way in helping to keep the skin fresh and free of pimples. This is one of the best grooming tips to follow as it not only causes the problem temporarily, it even goes on to prevent further similar issues.

9) I Need Some Spa
Don’t be shy of pampering yourself with multiple visits to the spa. Regular exfoliation and facial cleansing treatments can do you no harm. It gets rid of all the dirt and grime which can clog up your skin pores. A relaxing massage to go with it relaxes the muscles and gives your skin a radiant glow. If you don’t want to go to the spa, you can come up with alternative home remedies. A famous home remedy is a mixture of besan and malai which if applied thrice a week gives glowing skin.
10) 5 Minutes More
If you’ve followed some of the best grooming tips given above, you’re going to jumping on your bed and shouting with joy by the time you’re done reading this. Sleep! Sleep all you can. You’ve worked hard for a long time and in all the frenzy, you must not forget to complete your daily sleep requirements. It helps your skin glow and makes sure you don’t end up with baggy eyes or dark circles.
If you’ve bothered to follow us till this point, you’ve probably read enough to make sure that you look absolutely fit and fab for your big day, provided you follow the above listed ten best grooming tips. Incredible Journey of Katia Peshakova From Russia to India as a Wedding Photographer
Indian weddings are known for their grand celebrations, surreal charm and all the glitz and glamour painted all over. It’s no surprise that many people around the world are fascinated with such amazing-ness that is in an Indian wedding. One such example is of Katia Peshakova, a wedding photographer who had a special place for India in her heart even before visiting it.
Katia, who moved to India in 2012, is an international artist-photographer who works with a mix of her two sides i.e. photography and love for India and does a spectacular job in creating flawless memories for the bride and groom.
It is such a pleasure for us to interview this gem of a photographer.
Wedamor – Tell us something about yourself, your team, and what inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
Katia Peshakova – I was born in Krasnodar in South Russia. My exposure to photography started at an early age through my father who was a photographer himself and wedding photography, I was fascinated by it and the fact that with just one wedding I could do fashion photography, meet new people, and explore amazing places. So it started with just a hobby and became the focus of my life. I felt it as part journalism and part anthropology.
Wedamor – Born and brought up in Russia, what brings you to India and try Indian wedding photography?
Katia Peshakova – I cannot highlight any single factor as to why I am here. It is the love that brought me to India and it is the same feeling that gets me out of my bed every day. For me India is like, I smell the Indian smell in Bangkok, miss the Indian noise and chaos in Russia, or cook Indian food when I am travelling to other parts of the world. So, I feel much more at home when I am in India. As far as Indian wedding photography is concerned, the love I receive from the families of the bride and groom whose weddings I cover is the highlight of my job.
Wedamor – How you are competing with the native Indian photographers and what makes you different from your competitors?
Katia Peshakova – I am an artist; to judge my work, people can see my portfolio which showcases my ability to understand Indian weddings, culture, traditions and dress code. I guess there are some weddings to which I naturally won’t suit, but my customers are broad-minded, well-travelled or are even settled abroad. So I never feel the need to convince someone to take me seriously.
Wedamor– You have covered a number of weddings from different parts of India. Which one remains your favourite and why?
Katia Peshakova – Though every wedding leaves a sweet memory in mind but there was one wedding that stands out the most that I covered in September 2015 in Himachal. The couple was from Bengaluru but they went to Palampur to have a traditional Pahari Wedding. After the main functions, the party went to the groom’s house, where the ceremonies to welcome the bahu took place. The entire wedding procession climbed up the hill to worship the groom’s ancestors, and celebrate the entire wedding in the forest with Pahari traditional music and dance. That was the time when I felt exactly why I was in India and why I wanted to become a wedding photographer.
Wedamor – India, being such a diverse country rich in various cultures, customs, and traditions, what have been the biggest challenges so far in establishing yourself in the country?
Katia Peshakova – My dad once said, “Don’t be afraid to start a new adventure and fight for your dreams”. Yes, India is rich in cultures, customs, traditions and Indian wedding are full of colours, and that’s where both the beauty and challenge lies. During my early years in India, I wanted to explore as much as I can so I began travelling extensively, taking photographs, keeping a journal and just enjoying the journey. Apart from this, I had discovered books on India at a young age. The books were from Russian authors who have explored India and spend a considerable time here. It was these books that fuelled my desire to live in India and be a part of its culture.
Wedamor – Which aspect of your work excites you the most?
Katia Peshakova – It was not only just what the weddings were about but also their significance. The bride and groom’s children and grandchildren will look upon these memories that capture one of the most important events of their life. That makes us photographers, really important people. Every wedding is absolutely unique and full of curious small moments, rituals and traditions! I feel like I have become a kind of collector, chasing every new wedding in every new region.

Wedamor – How has the journey been so far in India as a wedding photographer?
Katia Peshakova – I shot my first Indian wedding in the year 2012 which was a North Indian affair. For the first few shots I have worked without pay till I established myself as an independent professional but slowly I found my place among them and now am a company owner. I have shot more than 30 weddings so far and to be honest the journey has been incredible so far.
She is an amazing figure in wedding photography, with more enthusiasm and motivation than the rest to give you the beautiful pieces of memories you deserve.
So finding a photographer who understands your needs and goes out of the way to make those pictures look flawless? I guess your search is over now

Tips For Selecting Wedding Shoes
Shoes are every girl’s fad and each time countless hours are spent in spotting down “the just” pair. And in all probability, this was the reason why Charles Perrault chose those sparkling glass shoes to play the pivotal role in his story of Cinderella. And so today we have for you some tips to bear in mind while selecting wedding shoes. And we promise you an experience right out of your favourite fairy tale. Here we go:
Tips For selecting wedding shoes:
The Color
That’s one prime criterion while cherry-picking your dreamy shoes for your dream-day. Now, this should be only done once you’ve picked up your wedding day attire. Take along a small piece from your wedding dress to out-do any possibility of a wrong guesswork or inept estimations.
Pintrest.com
Now if you prefer to dress up like a traditional bride, the color should be of the perfect shade as of your attire with similar patchwork.
Pintrest.com
But brides these days are hitting off the box look and opting for shoes in contrast colors.
So before hitting the market, as I always say, form a clear idea of what you want, to save confusion and time.
Also, you could check online for ideas when selecting wedding shoes. But I will never advise you to buy footwear online because what may look good on the screens may not bring expected glory to your feet. And you will always be short of time to entangle yourself in return policies.
The Budget
Pintrest.com
Underneath your long flowy wedding attire, your shoes will more often not be seen. Hence if you are tight on budget, choose wisely to spend on your wedding shoes. Also, keeping in mind the future reusability of your wedding shoes is a practical approach.
Height of Your Heels
Pintrest.com
It should be so chosen that neither does it out do your comfort nor your better-halves height.
Comfort
And this plays the deciding role. Remember you will be wearing the shoes for long hours- walking, dancing and snapping but not tripping. So if you aren’t used to very high heels, no experiments to be performed on your D –day. Your shoes should define your personality, so please do not blindly follow someone else’s style while selecting wedding shoes.

This is why brides these days often opt for wedges, flats, and converse as well.
The Flooring and Venue Restrictions
Vintage venues do not allow sharp heels within their premises in order to avoid damage to their old wooden floors. So please check out with them.
Pintrest.com
Likewise also find out the flooring of your banquet and if they offer less friction, as in the case of wooden or tiled floors, rub your soles against sand paper.

A Spare Pair
Pintrest.com
To save yourself from the disaster of a heel falling apart or strap losing its grip, it’s always safe to carry a spare pair of shoes.
Take Care of Your Feet
Pintrest.com
Devote time to the pedicure, so that they look soft and supple when you have to open them for some ritual. Also paint them beautifully, so that they give a wonderful sneak peek if you are wearing peep-toes and pedicuring is a good idea for your honeymoon as well.
Wear Them Before
Pintrest.com
Yes, wear your wedding shoes before, at your home and slightly worn them out, so that they do not end up giving you shoe-bites on your special day.
I hope you find our tips helpful and if you have more tips for selecting wedding shoes, feel free to share those with us in the comment section.

Be it parties, wedding, trips, or any such occasions; millennial do not miss a chance to dress and show up. They rule their social media game with selfies and great poses. It is traumatizing to find oneself looking horrible in photos. It is always surprising how all these models manage to look so good all the time. Being photogenic is a like a fine art- how you’re in-the-flesh beauty translates on camera. All you need is to know some best posing tricks and you are done.
With the wedding season coming closer, and with many cameras around, make sure you are well aware of the poses and tricks to look photogenic all the time in front of your wedding photographer. Look at the profiles of famous celebrities/models or your friend who keeps posting good pictures. Try to observe their poses, hairstyle, dressing style. Also, learn how they manage to look so damn good every time. These would definitely help you to learn some best posing tricks so that next time you look great in pictures.
Best Posing Tricks to Help You Look Photogenic
Here are some best posing tricks that will help you look photogenic.
1) Know Your Angles
Standing or sitting, you should know the right angles that will make you look good while the photographer clicks you. Adjust your chin, shoulders straight; drop your face down to adjust the camera level. Prefer lower angles instead of higher ones. Lower angles visually stretch your figure, making you look leaner and taller.
2) Be Confident and Comfortable
Be comfortable in your dressing and styling. Your discomfort will naturally show on your face and your shoulders will look slumped. Do not hesitate to be in front of cameras, project confidence in yourself and strike a pose. Fake it until you make the best of it.
3) Know Your Best Profile
Not many of us are aware of our best profiles. According to scientific study, usually, the left side of the face is more attractive. However, on observing and paying a little attention towards it, you can surely know which side of your profile is the best. Stand in front of a mirror or your phone camera and check your left and right profiles.
4) Adjust Your Head and Face Angles
Tilt your face slightly, so you are not facing the camera directly and get a square portrait. You can also turn your head slightly as it is more flattering. This will give your features more depth and maybe show your cheekbones. This gives a good look when you strike a pose in front of high definition cameras.
5) Avoid Standing Close to Cameras
If you think you will not be getting good pictures while standing closest to the camera, avoid it. It will make your face look disproportionately larger. Instead, choose a position where you are safe and on an even plane with the other people in the group photo. Also, avoid clicking selfies in such cases so that it does not ruin the picture.
6) Smile
This works for almost everyone. Give a relaxed smile in front of the camera. Do not reveal your nervousness. Instead, be confident and smile. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, open your eyes before the shutter clicks and smile. Do not stretch your cheekbones much; it seems as if you are faking the smile.
7) Avoid Grinning
Try to smile naturally. To avoid a too-wide grin, put your tongue behind your teeth when smiling. Just remember to smile with your eyes so you do not look unhappy!
8) Wear Bright Lipstick
Choose bright pop-color lipsticks that brighten up your smile in photographs. This gives a different look and makes you stand out from the rest in the group photos.
9) Say MONEY instead of CHEESE
Don’t Say Cheese! Say Money!
The old “Say cheese!” thing is a farce. It somehow makes your smile look kind of fake and forced. If you have to say something, we suggest “money,” which allows your mouth to stay slightly open and come across as much more genuine.
10) Learn How to Pose
Master the chicken arm pose – hand-on-hip pose. This angle makes your pose look more natural and poised. All you have to do is pose with elegance and simplicity.
11) Wear Sleek Clothes
It is an irony but true that some outfits give a good look in real life but the same gives an odd look in photographs. This is because you don’t get the proportion of your skinny legs. Wear clothes such as a slimmer-fitting top which hugs your silhouette.
12) Darken Your Brows
Darkening your brows often gives you a different look. Do it with a pencil, powder or wax and balance your makeup. This truly gives a much difference in photographs.
13) Shiny Hair
Make sure you focus on your hair as much as you do for the rest. Use last-minute spray-on shine to give your hair a shiny touch. This helps to give you a great photogenic look.
14) Use Props
Props while getting clicked makes your picture look beautiful. Wear fashionable glasses that match your face or something that you can flaunt and play with.
15) Blush is Must!
Your face may look two-dimensional if you do not apply blush or a medium pink shade on your cheeks. This will shape your face and look blush and beautiful in photographs.
With these tricks, you are surely going to look photogenic when someone clicks you.
Next time when you see a camera on, confidently strike a pose!

Ultimate Guide to Finding the Perfect Wedding dress
Are you ready to start shopping for the wedding dress and beginning to stress about it? It is true, the wedding dress is one of the most traditional elements of a wedding and what little girls’ dreams about but you don’t have to stress about finding the perfect one for you.
Here is a guide to Find a Stunning Wedding Dress
Let us help ease the tension by giving you a few insider tips on how to pick your wedding dress.
Who Should You Bring With You?
This is one of the most important decisions you will have as it can make your wedding dress shopping experience totally enjoyable or absolutely miserable. For the staff at the stores it’s really a love-hate relationship with the entourage but for the most part, they are GREAT! We know that the journey of finding the perfect wedding gown for you is emotional, exhausting, stressful, sometimes full of drama, but always totally memorable. If you choose the right friends and family members your experience will be nothing but pleasant. They will support you, encourage you, listen to your desires and allow you to quietly find the right wedding gown for your day. If you choose the wrong ones, then disaster can happen. Too many times we see friends or family members that are jealous of the Bride and want to anything to take the attention away from her. So they act hateful, boastful, loud and obnoxious. They can see you love a dress so they quickly point out something to make you second guess it or pass it by. So our advice to you, bring no more than four of your closest and most trusted friends or family members. Shopping for your wedding dress should be an experience and something you should cherish and have fond memories of. Embrace it and don’t take too seriously. Their thoughts and opinions are of course appreciated and let’s leave it at that. It’s what you love, and what “you” want your fiancé to see you walking down the aisle in.
How to Get the Best Price For Your Wedding Dress
Everyone wants to get the best price for merchandise and other things they buy in their everyday life so it is no surprise that Brides want to get the best price for their wedding gown too. Today there are thousands and thousands of wedding dress designers that range in price from the low hundreds up to and exceeding $20,000 – $30,000. Insane, I know to think that someone would pay $20,000 for a wedding dress that they will wear for approximately five hours…but I am her to tell you, it happens.
For the Bride that does not have a huge budget for the wedding there is great news! There are plenty of wedding gown designers that make affordable wedding gowns that are stylish, romantic, trendy and well made. So don’t freak out and think you will never find a wedding dress you can afford. You will! However, shopping for your wedding dress does require a little work on your part. Make sure you do a little research on the local boutiques. You don’t want to make an appointment and go try on wedding gowns only to find out they are all way over your budget. So call ahead, ask them what their price ranges are and if it falls in line with your budget, schedule an appointment.
Now that you have found a place to shop, there are many other ways for you to go about getting the best price for your wedding dress. First and probably the easiest is to just ask for a discount at the boutique. Many people don’t know this but most wedding dress designers allow boutiques to offer a small discount, usually 10% off the MSRP on their wedding gowns. Bridal boutiques do not advertise this and rarely offer it unless there is a special event happening like a trunk show. So just ask for the discount! They won’t be offended and they will probably say Yes!
The second way is to shop for your wedding dress online. You can go to your local boutique, try on gowns, find one you love and then go home and find it online cheaper. Just make sure to get all the details from the boutique so you can easily find it. You will need to know the name of the designer and the style number or name of the gown. Now I will be honest, this is something you have to be careful with because there are many websites that use the designer’s picture to promote knock-off designs that end up being terrible quality and look like rags. The general rule of thumb: if it sounds too good to be true it is! No authorized retailer is going to sell a Designer wedding dress for $200 if it retails in their store for $1500. There are however many reputable websites that do sell used wedding dresses for a fraction of the retail price. Check out SellMyDress.com. Many times you can save 50% and sometimes more. There are great deals to be had when buying your wedding dress. You just have to be a savvy Bride. You can even ask the boutique if they will sell you their sample and if they do generally you will get a hefty discount. Just make sure that it can be altered to fit you properly.

Remember the Most Important Opinion is Yours
Most Brides want everyone to love the dress they choose but sometimes it just isn’t possible for all opinions to line up in perfect harmony. All that should matter is that you love the gown, it feels good on your body, and it is what you want your Fiance to see walking down the aisle. If you find a dress that gives you all of that it is yours! Say Yes to the Dress and I do!

UNVEIL: Nishalni and Rimka’s New Age Studio For Traditional Wedding Wear
As we know Indian weddings are not just a one-night wedding ceremony, it usually calls for a few nights of celebration. From engagement to Mehendi to the wedding night, you need a special outfit for each occasion which you might not wear more than once in your life. Buying unique bridal outfits for each and every occasion could be really confusing as well as, a costly affair. Two friends who faced with the same problem have come up with a business, UNVEIL, which is a new age studio, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which represents traditional wedding wear for the non-traditional bride and her friends. From carefully designing and curating lehengas by artisans all around the world to offering rental services (which is what we’ve been waiting for), Unveil has much to offer.
UNVEIL – Meet the Founders
Nishalni and Rimka were from the same high school but lived abroad for several years. They then caught up in Kuala Lumpur and realised that they had similar interests as both were involved in other fashion projects at that time. From their personal experiences, they always found it hard to find good quality one-off pieces to buy or even to rent and there was a lack of bridal studios catering to Indian brides in Malaysia, hence they decided to venture into this”.
The duo realised its potential after a holiday to India where they explored their fashion sense to be similar as well. They found a wide variety of latest Indian fashion by sourcing garments from Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
At UNVEIL, one can get lehengas with detailing like Phulkari (an embroidery technique from the Punjab region) and Zardozi (metal threadwork) which add to the prestige and modernity of each suit. The business, which started in May 2016, sees a varied clientele including those who need a traditional outfit, be it for a Bollywood-themed office party or for Deepavali day. They also took into account expats who live here or are attending a friend’s destination wedding and may need to rent or purchase an outfit.
Services On Offer
Their services include Bridal and Cocktail Lehengas, Anarkalis, Sarees, Lachas, Ghararas, and Indo-Western Fusion pieces. What makes them different from their competitors is that they tastefully curate and design their pieces as opposed to buying bulk catalogue pieces. They also offer free alteration and dry cleaning services. For them, buying experience is very important therefore they pay attention to each and every detail from finishing off a piece to packaging.
Partnership with Wedamor: For now, UNVEIL is only offering dresses on sale and not on rent, until they branch out to have a second base in India.
Rental Cycle
The rental cycle of UNVEIL in Malaysia goes like this:
1. Come by their studio, try a few pieces and pick the piece you would like to rent. (They are working on making their rentals available online, to make it easier for someone to rent it).
2. They will alter it according to your size.
3. You can pick it up on the preferred date after payment and security deposit. You can keep the piece for 3 days (if you want it for long, they can arrange that as well if no one else has booked it).
4. On the 4th day when you return it, they will dry clean it in time for the next customer. If there are no severe damages done to the piece, you will get back your security deposit without any deduction.
For now, customers have to pick up and return, but eventually, once they start their rental service online, they can get their dress delivered at home.
Expansion in India
Brides outside Malaysia would be able to check out their gorgeous collection online in 2 months and they are looking forward to expanding their business in India.
When asked about the challenges faced while setting up the business, Nishalni says, “Although Rimka speaks Hindi, I don’t, so there was a language barrier for me. Also, it was difficult dealing with people there in an industry that is mainly run by men. We had to become a little more aggressive with our dealings, but we chose to see the positive side as it toughened us up to be better entrepreneurs.”
Future Plans
UNVEIL is branching out to regional and international markets through bridal exhibitions, fashion shows and pop-up events. “Eventually, we would like to design more pieces instead of curating and include other upcoming and established designers from all around to our rental section, but only if we find unique designs that go with our brand image”, says the duo.
They are also looking forward to launching an in-house ready-to-wear collection focusing on contemporary Indian outfits, and incorporating mod elements to the traditional Indian garment in order to make it an easily wearable outfit. Apart from this, they are also planning to include menswear and curated shoes, accessories and handbags under UNVEIL.
The new hip is finally around! We can’t wait for UNVEIL to set up their gorgeous collection online
