How To Avoid Wedding Day Disasters?
A wedding day calls for several months of rapid major planning and headaches, so everyone, no matter how skilled they are, is bound to make mistakes. That is why it’s important to learn the ABC of how to avoid wedding day disasters.
ABC of How to Avoid Wedding Day Disasters
So you’ve decided and planned and thought through every living cell of your brain but some things just go wrong at the big day. It’s like the law of nature. Let’s dive in on some things you need to think through to avoid potential mishaps on the wedding day:
1) Ask One of Your Bridesmaids to be on the ‘Call’ Duty
Constant checking up on the vendors as the wedding day emerges is actually pretty essential. Making sure everyone has their arrival times correct is a big part of everything running smoothly. Your vendors should also have a number to call in case anything goes wrong on their end and they need to contact someone.
2) Avoid Hiring Friends and Family
Hiring friends or family to save a couple of dollars could be asking for trouble. It’s always better to leave it up to the professionals who are trained to work under immense pressure and will have a safe backup in case of any emergencies. It is alright to politely decline the help of people you know.

3) Weather Can be a Troublesome Factor
You can do everything you can to avoid wedding day disasters but some of them are just not in your hands like the weather! If you have arranged for an outdoor event, don’t forget to have a backup venue just in case something goes wrong. Hoping the weather will stay perfectly fine is asking for trouble. Sure, you might have to pay a little extra for a safe space but it is better than having to reschedule the event.
4) Wedding Insurance Can be Life-Saving
Purchasing wedding insurance will likely help you in saving a huge load of money in case something goes wrong, and it isn’t even that costly. If you are getting married in a tropical location and unexpected hurricane hits, you will not be out any money if you have insurance. It is better to be safe than sorry in one-time occasions like this.
“A basic insurance policy that covers loss of photos, videos, attire, presents, rings, and deposits usually costs anywhere between $155 and $550, depending on the amount of coverage you want. General liability insurance, which covers up to $1,000,000 for accidents, costs around $185.”
5) Make a Checklist
If you think you’ll remember every single detail and things would follow smoothly, think again. There are a million things to keep in mind and having a checklist on such occasions can be your safe bet. Having a checklist of things to do or people to contact or pay will benefit you tremendously. Having a vendor not show up because they may not have been paid is a nightmare that can easily be avoided by making sure everyone has been taken care of.

6) Put Ones You Trust in Charge
This is probably the most important point to act on when learning how to avoid wedding day disasters. It should not fall upon you to take care of every single trouble. Your family, friends and other trusted ones can be of great help here and you can ask them for ‘damage control’ duties so that every single trouble doesn’t fall upon your head. Let them know everything beforehand, and even give them a timetable of the day’s events if you can. Assigning such work to your trusted ones will allow you to focus on other important things while sneaking in a little relaxing time at the end of the day.
These were some of the major points you need to note down if you want to avoid wedding day disasters. It’s natural for some things to go wrong at the wedding, but you should keep your calm and trust your family and friends to take care of them for you. After all, it’s YOUR day so you need to sit back and relax.

Must Have Guest Facilities At Your Wedding Venue
Months and months of preparations go on for the perfect dress for the bride, selecting the venue of the wedding, choosing the menu, and what not! Can you guess what makes your wedding the most memorable? Yes, the guests. They make sure to take time out of their busy schedules to be a part of your happy day. Therefore, it’s totally your responsibility to be a good host and take care of the guest facilities they might need at the venue. The rituals and partying sometimes stretches to hours and without these basic guest facilities, your guests might have to face some uneasy moments. So, here’s the checklist you need to take care of:
Parking Facilities
Out of all the guest facilities, you might prepare for, this one is probably the most important. Assure that your wedding venue has enough parking spaces for all your guests. Sometimes it happens that the venue itself is grand but latecomers have a hard time to park their cars in neighborhood areas. Therefore, check your guest list and the expected number of vehicles, and make arrangements accordingly.
Restrooms
Many of the open area wedding venues don’t have proper restrooms for the guests. For any venue, restrooms are a necessity. Don’t let your guests be uneasy the whole time. Make sure you arrange for proper and clean washrooms, separately for men and women.

Kids Area
Why do we count it among guest facilities? Well, you will definitely don’t want your friends with children, to miss any of those special moments. So, make sure their children are safe and enjoying with other kids while their parents take part in your gala celebrations. Keep care-takers in the kids’ area to ensure that the kids are safe.
Nursing Room
If your wedding venue is not a hotel and you can’t provide rooms for everyone, at least assure there’s one for new mothers. It becomes difficult for the mothers to deal with their infants in the public. There should be a room for them where they can feed their children and rest in case the loud music outside is creating nuisances for the child.
Extra Vehicles
Even if most of your guests are arriving by themselves, there might be someone or the other who would appreciate your gesture of dropping them home as it gets difficult to arrange for a cab late at night. If you have enough family vehicles at the venue, keep some chauffeurs to take care of things so that your family members won’t have to miss out on any part of the celebrations.
Guest Rooms
If your wedding celebrations are going to continue whole night, you will need to arrange for a few guest rooms as well. Many of the extended family members stay till the end of the rituals. While you take care of other guest facilities, make sure you arrange rooms for them to take a power nap in the middle of the hullaballoo.

Sitting Arrangements
Even though the designers keep up your budget high, it is found that a good number of your guests are struggling to get a good comfortable seat. The dining part is the most difficult for situations like these. Along with sofas and chairs around the stage area, make sure to have enough tables and chairs for the guests to dine comfortably.
Location Signs
It happens time and again that the location of the venue is not well known by the people driving to the venue. At the night time, it gets more difficult to search for it. So, location signs must be put up from a known landmark nearby. You can also go fancy by putting up a string of lights to direct your guests to the venue.

Beyond The Twenty-Six Alphabets: A Story of the Modern Indian Woman
For years, women have been subjected to unequal treatment in societies across the world. Most countries are still struggling with providing equal rights to women but there is still a long way to go before this can be achieved. Indian society also has struggled with its own sense of dichotomy where on one end the girl child is considered holy and an avatar of prosperity, the same girl child is not allowed to live. Modern indian woman are challenging this and paving a way for a new social order where every child will have equal rights.
Indian society is full of hyprocrisy where item songs with actresses performing in minimal clothes which are accepted in the name of entertainment but you want a well-educated job doing girl, a girl who is modern, one who follows your lifestyles. Infant mortality rate among the girl child was one of the highest in our country which has recently been seeing a reversal. However, still we are a long way from equality of the sexes because of the deep rooted idea among the society where the man is the superior being.
There are innumerable women like Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra, P.T. Usha, Mary Kom and even homemakers who have broken these golden rules. They have come out of those shackles that had killed thousands of dreams and futures. So why not us?
I believe that there is a rebel in all of us which is repressed, take it out and fight. Fight for freedom, fight for equality and never ever give in to these so called golden rules that are supposed to make an ideal society.
So, to all the wonderful women out there,
BE BOLD, BE BEAUTIFUL, BE YOU!

Orchids
It’s definitely the best choice for the ‘purple’ favorite persons. Orchids are light weight when compared to roses and therefore is gaining popularity day by day. While short listing flowers for weddings, take them into consideration. The Indian tradition of ‘varmala’ goes on since ages. And these flowers are perfect for the tradition as it makes it easier for the bride and groom for its light weight quality.

In Indian tradition, you can’t take marigold out of traditional occasions be it any pujas or weddings. And surely you can do some experiment with the ever-popular flower. Be innovative in the decorations and keep tradition aligned with beauty.

Love Marriage vs Arranged Marriage-The Debate
Marriage is a holy institution, and as is the case with all holy institutions, it is plagued with some very unholy components. Here we have, amongst others, a never-ending listless duel between arranged and love marriages that threaten to destroy each other! And we can’t-do anything except for comparing the two. Presenting thereby the debate- love marriage vs arranged marriage!
Getting Into Perspective
It is important to understand that although love marriage vs arranged marriage has been one of those unending debates, ultimately, both of these underlie the same concept, they are just different approaches to a common destination, which is ensuring a successful relationship between two married individuals. And while an arranged marriage can be taken as a slightly longer-term perspective, the other is based on a quicker and a more emotionally driven choice.
The Marriage of Families
As it is rightly said, a marriage isn’t a two-people affair. It is both a cause and consequence of two families coming together and intertwining into each other, with or without emotion. The situation is even more amplified in a conservative backdrop such as in India. Obviously, an arranged marriage facilitates this smoothly, as this is basic idea it propagates per se. On the other hand, familial pressure and distaste are why many love marriages do not blossom or even materialize in the first place.

The Concept of Love
Dr. Robert Epstein from Harvard writes, “The idea is we must not leave our love lives to chance. We plan our education, our careers, and our finances but we’re still uncomfortable with the idea that we should plan our love lives. I do not advocate arranged marriages but I think a lot can be learned from them.” I absolutely ‘love’ this idea.
Love is a pure emotion, but it isn’t just about the emotion. It comes with a lot of consequences; of which I’ll talk about in the following few points.
The Socio-Economic POV
Arranged marriages are simple. Proper matchmaking ensures compatibility of individuals and families from the social as well as economic perspectives. This keeps materialistic differences aside and gives way to long-term stability. Such an objective kind of matchmaking has both its sides. The contrary view against arranged marriages is that they are forceful. There is an inherent pressure that creeps in, a pressure to sustain to make things work. Also, there is the claim that similarities in social and economic standing are not enough to give what it takes, which is perfectly true.
Some Statistics
The same Dr. Epstein claims to have conducted surveys on a significant number of people so as to incorporate all views and notions. According to his suggestions, feelings of love in love marriages begin to fade after the first 18 months; before gradually corroding and dying away as time passes by. On the flipside, in arranged marriages, mutual love grows with time. It surpasses the love in love marriages at near to the five-year mark! And while this mathematical model is hard to believe, he also goes on to assert that the feelings of love and affection are twice as strong as love marriages by the ten-year mark. We might choose to deny the numbers, but the survey does enough to give us an essence of trends and a quantitative perspective of ‘love marriage vs arranged marriage.’

Bottomline
Rather than declaring one of the two as victorious, it is better and more fruitful for us admit that both of these methods have positive and negative facets which should be respected. Both of these deserve to be studied in isolation. What is fundamental the diseases of our society, gender bias and discrimination, forceful marriages, having to treat the husband as ‘God’, and others be kept as removed as can be pre- and post-marriages.
Otherwise, the love marriage vs arranged marriage is not one of those debates that die down easily.

With some Indian Wedding Themes following the western traditions read this blog by Andrea Fowler from “theknot.com” (a wedding planning website in U.S.A) on how to style a romantic wedding themes by giving some black white wedding theme style tips.
Style Tips for Black and White Romantic Wedding Themes
Elegant and timeless, a black and white wedding is as classic as it gets—but the thought of pulling it off can be intimidating. To make this palette a little more approachable, think of the colors as light and dark hues instead of focusing on the strong contrast. Whispers of soft pastel shades like blush pink and ice blue mixed with dark tones will make the overall aesthetic less stark.
“So many of our clients have expressed interest in trying out a black and white Romantic Wedding Themes for their weddings,” says Krista Li of Two of a Kind, a rental company based in Long Island City, New York. “We wanted to show how it can be done in an ultra-romantic way,” Li says. Take the “second dress” to new heights by changing into an elegant black dress for the reception. It’s a seamless way (with a wow factor) to incorporate the color scheme into your the bridal attire.

Wedding Photographers Selection Criterion
A wedding photographers not only captures photos, but also the beautiful memories full of joy, emotions, and drama which you will cherish for the lifetime. Wedding photos are timeless moments captured in frames so it’s very important for you to hire the right professional to capture those special moments.
Choosing a good wedding photographer is very complicated as compared to picking up your bridal trousseau or booking any other wedding service as you cannot visualise until you have made your decision.
The relationship between you and your photographer will be largely dependent on faith. Great wedding photographers end up being a little expensive but you have to remember that there are no second chances! This is definitely one area worth splurging on!

A wedding happens only once in the lifetime, wisdom should restrain both sides to plan the ceremony. It is not only for purposes of order but it effectively manages the budget as well.
A lot of planning is necessary to ensure that each aspect of the marriage ceremony is not too lavish or tightly budgeted so that it would not ruin this important affair. Simple yet elegant and within the couple’s budget will make this wonderful event even more memorable. What is of primary concern here is that the wedding couple’s wishes have to be met. Their happiness on this day is the main objective of the event.
A lot of couples although financially from their wedding. Therefore, make your best choice.capable, prefer a simple beach wedding over a lavishly done church wedding. They would rather do it this way than being peppered with praises. Whatever ceremonies you would like to have in your wedding, the end goal always is to make this big day your most memorable one. Every spouse has his/her own expectations
1. Be clear on what you and your fiancé want in the wedding photographer
You need to be absolutely clear of the wedding photography you are looking for. Gather as many references as possible. Discuss on whether you want to print all photos or you want one main album and a coffee table book or if you want to print only a few pictures and keep the rest in a soft copy.

2. Look at the style of wedding photographers before getting your final professional
Like for example if you want to go with old school wedding photography, you may need a basic photographer but the final outcome has to be elegant even if the style is traditional. If you are looking for some not so conventional wedding pictures, you can opt for a wedding photographer who does more stylized shoots or candid shots.

3. Narrow down on options and meet potential wedding photographers face-to-face
Check on the availability and also look at wedding albums shot by them. Also ask to look at weddings from different cultures and the entire set of pictures, as it will help you understand their quality and style better.
Discuss rates and complete details like shooting and reporting timings, availability of assistance, the degree of coverage, production cost and any other queries you may have. Also, understand terms and conditions of payment policies.

Once you have read the above criterion we would like to recommend these four simple steps in mind:
1. Work Experience of the photographer– A wedding is a one-time affair. Every memory associated with the wedding is very special for the couple and has to be captured by a professional. They should know what they are doing.
2. Previous works: Past work is one of the most important things to consider while choosing a photographer. You need to get a feel of their sense of art and then decide what is right for you. Does their style suit you or not, etc.
3. A personal connection with the photographer- Having a personal connection with the photographer is very important. As both have to be on the same page about what you want and how you want it to be done. He should be willing to travel the extra mile to make you feel comfortable about the whole process. It is of no use contracting a person, who would not even understand what you require out of him.
4. Budgetary constraints for choosing the wedding photographers– Budget is a constraint for most of us. So select a photographer within the budget and make sure you get the most out of him in the price that you pay !!
Best Wishes from Team Wedamor!

10 Things You Will Only Find in a Punjabi Wedding
Have you ever been to a Punjabi wedding? If not, then you have been missing epic parties, fun and craziness. From dancing till your feet ache, drinking to a lot of drama. A Punjabi wedding is not just a shaadi it is a movie straight out of Bollywood ready to take you into a world full of madness. An event full of colors, gusto, drama, food and how can we forget- liquor or “daaru” it is a grand spectacle that everyone should experience once in a lifetime.
Now that the wedding season has arrived, here are some things that you will only fins in a Punjabi wedding.
Never Ending Functions
All of us have attended weddings and most of us know about the number of rituals which sum up to 4 maximum. Not for Punjabi weddings though, yep there is a long list of functions each of them full of fun and frolic. It all starts with a Roka ceremony followed by sangeet, mehendi ceremony, haldi ceremony, kalire ceremony and what not.
The Late Baaraat
When you receive the invite for a Punjabi wedding you will find that the baaraat start time may be mentioned at 8 pm, so you think that the” varmala rasam” will take place at around 9. But if you for once think that your assumptions will come true then you are living in an illusion, because the baaraat will always be late. It is a never ending journey that will reach its destination around 12.
Who Needs Music?
Be it DJ’s or Dholwala’s a Punjabi wedding ensures that you dance till your feet are numb. Be it parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts everyone will forget their age and dance to the beats. There is no end to their energies as “punjabiyan di battery charge rhenedi hai”. After all who needs music just bring on that dhol and see that bhangra. Not to forget, those amazing naagin dance moves that steal the show.
Another thing that you will find in the weddings is the song “rail gaddi” because all come together, form a chain and let loose! Plus, who can forget that drunk uncle dancing with an empty liquor bottle on his head. There is no limitations or boundaries just dancing.
The Bride Is Coy…….Not!
Do not think that our Punjabi bride is shy or coy, nope! You will find the Punjabi bride dancing and partying. It’s her day and she’s not the one to shy away.
Blinged
When it comes to fashion, dressing up into those heavy clothes that looks utterly gorgeous, smart and loud our Punjabi can gives all the Bollywood biggies a run for their money. You will see the entire family rocking those expensive clothes and awesome jewellery slaying everyone in their way.
Foodie
Khana and khilana – the two words loved most genuinely by Punjabis. They serve yummiest of all foods in the world with Butter chicken being a must. Other than this there will be multiple buffet tables that will be offering variety of food items for you to gorge on.
Note Garland
If there is one thing that is very unique in a Punjabi wedding is that you see the groom wearing a garland. Now as soon as I said garland it is quite normal for you to think of a flower garland but here the Punjabi groom dons a note garland. This note garland can have many kind of notes from a 10 rupees note to 500 rupee notes.
Dancing Among the Notes
Talking of notes reminded me of another thing most common in a Punjabi wedding. It’s flying notes. Like literally, the family members throw cash in the air as a part of celebration without a care. Interestingly this money is not picked by anyone other than the poor with the hope of blessings.
Community Affair
It’s a common fact that Punjabis are very friendly people. They can get along with almost everyone, thus ensuring that the guest list is very long. So, the wedding becomes a community affair and the entire pind is invited to give their blessing to the new couple. And you cannot really forget that NRI cousin from Canada.
Daaru
No Punjabi wedding is complete without a bar which is overstocked with all kinds of liquor. From whiskey to scotch to more variants everything has to be present there. Even if by chance there is no bar there is a car-o-bar which is always overcrowded.
Phew! A long list of why it is a must experience. After this, I am sure you would want to go a Punjabi wedding for its gusto and dhamaal.
